Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how SwipePlay ("we", "us", the "App") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the App to discover games and connect with other players. By creating an account and using SwipePlay, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

• Account details: your email address and a password (passwords are securely handled and stored by our authentication provider — we never see your plain password).
• Username and an optional profile: bio, avatar, banner, chosen top games, and favorite genres.
• Date of birth: used only to confirm you meet the minimum age requirement (13+) and to show age-appropriate game content. It is not shown publicly in full.
• Activity: games you like, players you match with, friends, and groups you join or create.
• Communications: group chat messages, direct messages, and reactions you send within the App.
• Photos you upload: if you create a group and choose a group picture from your device, that image is uploaded and stored so it can be shown to members of that group. We only access the specific image you select — we never scan or access your photo library.
• Push notification token: if you allow notifications, your device is given a unique notification token which we store so we can send you alerts (for example a new message or match). It identifies your device for delivery only, and is deleted when you sign out or delete your account.
• Safety data: reports and blocks you create, so we can keep the community safe.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and operate your account and player profile.
• To provide core features: discovering games, matching with players, chatting, and managing friends and groups.
• To show age-appropriate content based on your date of birth.
• To keep the community safe — reviewing reports, enforcing blocks, and moderating abuse.
• To send you push notifications about activity that involves you — such as a new direct message, a match, or a friend request. You can turn these off at any time in your device settings or in the App.
• To maintain, secure, and improve the App.

3. Minimum Age (13+)

SwipePlay is intended for users 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Account creation is blocked for anyone who enters a date of birth indicating they are under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

4. How Your Information Is Shared

• With other users: your username, profile (avatar, banner, bio, top games), and any messages or reactions you send are visible to other users you interact with. Please don't share information you want to keep private.
• Group pictures: an image you set as a group's picture is visible to every member of that group.
• With service providers: we use Supabase (database, authentication, file storage, and hosting) to operate the App, and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications. Your data is stored on their secure infrastructure on our behalf.
• We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
• Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored using Supabase. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access is protected by authentication and row-level security rules. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

6. Your Rights & Choices

• Edit your profile at any time within the App.
• Block or report other users to control your experience.
• Control notifications: you can allow or refuse push notifications when first asked, and change it any time in your device settings or in the App.
• Delete your account: the App includes a "Delete Account" option that permanently removes your account and associated data (liked games, friends, chats, matches, blocks, reports, uploaded group pictures, and your notification token). This action cannot be undone. You can also request deletion from our account deletion page.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our active systems. Some information may persist briefly in backups before being overwritten.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
